How it works

Three things. Then it just runs.

No new habits to learn at sea. The log, the brief, and the people who care — connected.

STEP 01

Log a passage

Drop pins, log waypoints, note the watch. Pulls position from your chartplotter, AIS, or phone — or punch it in by hand. Whatever's easiest at 03:00.

STEP 02

WatchKeeper writes the brief

Twice a day, an AI summary stitches your log entries, position, weather, and watch state into a calm, readable update. No drama. No jargon.

STEP 03

Shore crew gets the email

Your partner, parents, kids, dock master — whoever you nominate. Position, ETA, weather, and emergency contacts. They sleep. You sail.

Features

Everything the logbook should have done by now.

Built around how passages actually run — watches, weather windows, gear failures, and the people you left ashore.

Passage logbook

Auto-timestamped entries with position, SOG/COG, wind, sea state, sail plan, and crew on watch. Searchable. Exportable.

AI shore brief

Twice-daily AI-written status email. Plain-English summary, position, weather, ETA, watch status. Tone calibrated for non-sailors.

Watch schedule

Rotating, two-up, three-up — set the pattern, WatchKeeper handles the math, prods the next watch, and logs hand-overs.

Weather alongside

Pull GRIBs, route forecasts, and squall warnings into the log so the brief is always wind-aware. Works with PredictWind / ECMWF.

Crew & emergency contacts

Vessel docs, MMSI, EPIRB, insurance, next of kin — every brief includes the right contacts so the shore crew never has to dig.

Track & share

Public passage page, GPX/KML export, and one-link sharing for friends who want to follow along without an app install.

The shore brief

This is what your family wakes up to.

Every twelve hours, while you're on watch or sleeping it off, the AI quietly assembles your latest log entries, position, and forecast into something legible. You approve it from anywhere — or let it auto-send.

  • TLDR up topthree lines for the kid who only reads the first line.
  • Position, ETA, weatherthe three numbers everyone actually wants.
  • Emergency blockCoast Guard, EPIRB serial, vessel MMSI, and your insurance line. Always there.
SV Kestrel · Pacific Crossing · Day 1206:00 UTC

Common questions

Everything we get asked at the dock.

Does this work without satellite internet?

Yes. The log is local-first; entries sync the next time you have any connection — Wi-Fi at the marina, your phone's hotspot, Iridium SBD, or Starlink. The shore brief queues and goes the moment you've got bandwidth.

How is the AI brief actually written?

It reads your last 12 hours of log entries, position, weather, and watch state, then produces a plain-English summary calibrated to be calming rather than dramatic. You can review and edit before it sends, or set it to auto-send.

What do my shore crew receive?

An email — no app install, no login. Position, ETA, conditions, watch status, and an emergency-contact block. Optional: a link to your live passage page with a track and recent log entries.

Can I export my logs?

Always. GPX, KML, and CSV on every tier. Your passages are yours — we don't lock you in. The Bluewater tier adds API access if you want to pipe entries somewhere else.

What chartplotters / instruments work?

Anything that speaks NMEA 0183 / 2000 over Wi-Fi, plus most cellular AIS apps. You can also log entirely by hand. We're testing with Raymarine, B&G, Garmin, and OpenCPN.

When can I actually use it?

We're in private beta now with a handful of cruising boats. Public launch is later this year — join the waitlist and we'll send the invite when there's something real to give you.
