Acceptable Use Policy

The short version.
Use WatchKeeper for keeping a sailing log, not for anything illegal, abusive, or that breaks the Service for other people. Don’t rely on it for navigation or emergencies. Break these rules and we may suspend or close your account.
This policy sits alongside our Terms of Use and Safety Disclaimer.
1. Lawful use only.
You agree to use WatchKeeper only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable maritime, export, privacy, and other laws. You are responsible for the content you store and the people you invite.
2. Don't abuse the Service or other people.
You agree not to:
· harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate anyone; · upload unlawful, infringing, or malicious content; · attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems; · probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission; · scrape, crawl, or bulk-export data you do not own; · interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; · resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without a written agreement.
3. Your account, your responsibility.
Keep your credentials secure, give accurate information, and don’t share a single account across people it wasn’t provisioned for. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Other people's data.
When you add crew, emergency contacts, or shore contacts, you confirm you have their consent to store and share their information for the purpose of your passages. Respect their privacy.
5. Not for navigation or distress.
WatchKeeper is an informational logbook. Weather, tides, tracker positions, and AIS traffic are provided for situational awareness only and may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Do not use the Service for navigation, collision avoidance, or as a distress or emergency-signalling system. See the Safety Disclaimer.
6. Enforcement.
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or take other action we consider appropriate, with or without notice where the violation is serious or ongoing.
7. Reporting abuse.

8. Changes.
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above.
